LSU’s tiger mascot, Mike VI, has had a busy Saturday so far.

Recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, the tiger headed to the hospital Saturday morning to begin his fight against the disease.

According to WBRZ, Mike’s first visit to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center went as well as could be expected:

“Mike was sedated and multiple CT images of the tumor were acquired.  The images will help doctors precisely target the cancer for when he undergoes radiation therapy.”

Mike is reportedly back in his habitat on the LSU campus, where he’s resting from this morning’s ordeal. He’ll be monitored closely as doctors formulate a plan for radiation.

Texas’s Bevo and Texas A&M’s Reveille have already sent their well-wishes and will be happy to hear Mike’s first visit to the hospital went well.
