LSU’s depth chart is going through a re-shuffling not seen in recent memory.

The Tigers reportedly have lost DE T.K. McLendon, who has entered the transfer portal, according to Shea Dixon of 247Sports. It appears McLendon may have been passed over for a starting role by teammates along the defensive line.

McLendon had battled for a starting role in Bo Pelini’s 4-3 defense, but had been overtaken in fall camp by others. Andre Anthony and Travez Moore began camp as first-team players on the edge of the line, but then there were younger players like Phillip Webb and BJ Ojulari.

Originally from Soperton, Georgia, McLendon was a former junior college signee from Copiah-Lincoln CC and joined the Tigers ahead of the 2019 season. He caught one pass for 12 yards across three games. McLendon ranked as the No. 47 overall player and No. 2 tight end in the 2019 junior college class, per the 247Sports Composite.

He was moved to defensive end in the hunt for more playing time.

While Justin Thomas reportedly transferred to UAB, LSU also had 3 players elect to opt out of the season before this news about McLendon.
