LSU tackle Emery Jones will give up his final season of collegiate eligibility and enter the 2025 NFL Draft.
Jones officially declared for the draft on Thursday, thanking LSU coaches, teammates, and fans for 3 years in Baton Rouge. The 6-foot-6 offensive lineman was a Freshman All-American in 2022 and then a second-team All-SEC selection in 2023 and 2024.
“Baton Rouge has always been, and will always be, my home,” Jones wrote. “Growing up in Baton Rouge, attending games at Tiger Stadium instilled in me a deep sense of pride and a longing to one day represent the state of Louisiana by running out of the tunnel in Death Valley on a Saturday night.”
Jones is regarded as one of the top tackles in the 2025 draft class. In Mel Kiper Jr.’s positional rankings, he’s the 10th-best offensive tackle in the class.
Jones was part of the first signing class for Brian Kelly at LSU. He partnered with Will Campbell to form LSU’s bookend tackles on the line in 2022 and they’ve dominated both sides of the line ever since.
With Campbell also heading off to the NFL, the Tigers’ offensive line will look quite different in 2025. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier is expected back — a major win for Kelly and the Tigers — and now LSU will go about fortifying its offensive line around him.
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
