Give LSU WR Malachi Dupre this much: He’s not lacking confidence in himself or his teammates.

Following Saturday’s spring game, the Tigers’ rising-junior wideout expressed just how good he believes the LSU passing attack can be this fall.

It’s a confidence bred from the arrival of new LSU WR coach Dameyune Craig, according to a report from SEC Country’s Sam Spiegelman.

“I know Coach Craig comes from an offense with a lot of options with quick throws at Auburn, so coming in here, he has helped us out a lot with that,” Dupre said. “You see it today, and by the time the season gets here, we will be deadly in every aspect of the passing game.”

The Tigers ranked 106th in the FBS with 179.8 yards per game through the air in 2015, so most Tigers fans would settle for a noticeable improvement if “deadly” is not a realistic outcome.

Dupre showed signs of becoming the playmaker Les Miles hoped he’d have when the former five-star recruit signed on to play in Baton Rogue prior to the 2014 season.

He caught 43 passes for 698 yards and six touchdowns during his sophomore campaign, indicating a breakout junior season could be in order if he continues to mesh with starting QB Brandon Harris.

Dupre told SEC Country that he hopes a spring under the tutelage of Craig will help him get to that next level this fall.

“The biggest thing I feel like in the springtime is maturing,” Dupre said. “I’ve matured a lot since the season ended. We need to work harder to keep growing and get better every day. The guys that came in early out of high school have matured a lot since they got here, and they had a lot to learn and did a wonderful job at that. They need to be ready to continue to work in the spring, the summer and get ready for the fall.”

If the Tigers are able to put together even a league-average passing attack in 2016, they may have the pieces in the running game and on defense to contend for an SEC championship and CFP invitation.
