Matt McMahon explains what drew him to LSU in spite of looming NCAA sanctions
Matt McMahon is LSU’s new men’s basketball coach, coming over from Murray State to replace Will Wade.
Wade was fired prior to the NCAA Tournament amid allegations from the NCAA. Currently LSU doesn’t know what, if any, punishment it will receive.
So, what drew McMahon to the Tigers? Why choose LSU when the NCAA cloud looms large over Baton Rouge? He said during his introductory press conference on Wednesday that the brand of LSU and the SEC lured him to the league:
Matt McMahon: "This is LSU. One of the great brands in all of sports. This is the SEC. We've built a program with elite players, and we're going to continue to do that at LSU. I'm excited to move the program forward. We're going to build it with great players and great people."

Can McMahon guide the Tigers through this tumultuous period? He’ll have to completely reassemble LSU’s recruiting classes after several high-profile players decommitted this past week.
But, he led Murray State to plenty of success, so LSU fans will be hopeful he can do the same in Baton Rouge.
