LSU WR Justin Jefferson had an outstanding 2019 season. He and fellow LSU receiver Ja’Marr Chase combined for 38 touchdowns, with Jefferson catching 18 of them.

Jefferson also had 111 catches for 1,550 yards to help LSU go undefeated and win the 2019 national championship. Now, he’s seen his stock rise, and on Thursday night, he was a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

With the 22nd overall pick, the Minnesota Vikings picked the outstanding LSU receiver.

That’s quite the journey for Jefferson, who was only a 3-star recruit coming out of high school in Louisiana. The 247Sports composite rankings had Jefferson as the No. 308 overall receiver in the 2017 class and the No. 76 overall recruit from the state of Louisiana.

How will Jefferson fare in the NFL? He’s drawn a number of great comparisons, including 1 comp to current New Orleans Saints star Michael Thomas. That’s a lot to live up to, but Jefferson will get his chance to get off to a good start this fall (possibly).

We’ll see how his rookie year stacks up against the other receivers taken in the first round of this year’s draft.

Ja’Marr Chase could follow in Jefferson’s footsteps as a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, if he decides to declare a year early.
