Leonard Fournette played in the toughest division college football has to offer: the SEC West.

Because of that, he feels that the NFL has come easier to him than if he had played in another conference. According to ESPN’s Michael DiRocco, Fournette thought his NFL competition was, “a lot slower than I really thought.”

Many were blown away by his comments after his first preseason game as a Jacksonville Jaguar. His fellow SEC teammates backed him up and tried to clarify what he meant, including former Alabama offensive tackle Cam Robinson.

“I think he was just meaning that when it came to the actual pace of the game that what we faced at college did a good job preparing us for what we see at this level right now,” Robinson said.

Fellow running back Corey Grant — who interestingly enough played at Alabama and Auburn — also chimed in.

“Coming from the SEC, it’s really a hard-nosed league. Pac-10, all those others conferences and stuff, they’re good and they’re physical and everything, but it’s just something about coming out of the SEC.”
