Paul Skenes has been impressive for LSU all season long. On Friday, he etched another dominant chapter to the book with a brilliant performance to begin the Baton Rouge Regional.

As the No. 5 seed, the Tigers are hosting the regional site and began their NCAA Tournament run by facing Tulane. Skenes was able to go the distance in Friday’s performance, shining throughout the game.

Skenes needed 124 pitches to get through the game but was still pumping heat at the end of the game. His final pitch induced a weak ground ball and was clocked at 101 MPH.

Skenes did give up a 2-run home run in the 7th inning but that was the only blemish to his performance. He scattered 7 hits and did not walk a batter while recording 12 strikeouts to open the NCAA Tournament.

With some question marks in the rotation behind Skenes, Friday’s complete game performance carries a lot of weight for the rest of the weekend. LSU’s bullpen will be well-rested entering Saturday and need just one win to advance to the regional final.

The Tigers await the winner of Friday’s game between Sam Houston and Oregon State. Saturday’s game is set for 9 pm ET.
