The LSU Tigers entered Saturday’s home game vs. Florida down several key players, including WR Kayshon Boutte and starting CBs Derek Stingley Jr. and Eli Ricks.

The running game had been atrocious for the Tigers all year, too. So, naturally, LSU went out and picked up its best win of the year.

The running game was elite as the Tigers held on for a 49-42 victory over the Gators. Coach Ed Orgeron has been facing hot seat rumors lately, but he stayed away from commenting on those in the aftermath of the win:

“We’re going one game at a time, one day at a time. … This is not about me,” Coach O said. “This is about these players who fought all week to win this big-time game.”

Orgeron also noted the intensity from the Tigers at practice this week, and a players-only meeting that was held:

“They practiced all week like they knew we were going to win the game,” he said. “I felt the whole week like we’d win the game. Andre Anthony had the type of leadership, players-only meeting, we’re going to fight. These LSU Tigers are going to fight.”

The road doesn’t get easier for LSU moving forward, as the Tigers head to Ole Miss next weekend. We’ll see if Coach O’s squad can pull off another upset.
