LSU public address announcer Dan Borne doesn’t miss many games at Tiger Stadium, but he won’t be there on Saturday night.

According to Sheldon Mickles of The Advocate, Borne aggravated a mild case of laryngitis during the LSU basketball game against Louisiana Tech on Friday night. He also serves as the public address announcer at Tigers basketball games.

Saturday will be only the third game that Borne has missed in the past 33 seasons.

Senior associate communications director Bill Franques, who serves as PA announcer at Tigers baseball games, is filling in for Borne for LSU’s matchup against Rice.

Borne took over as LSU’s PA announcer in 1986. He missed a game against Kentucky in 2000 to attend a retreat for his church and he missed a 2015 game against South Carolina due to a previous engagement.

LSU won both of the previous games that Borne missed, so perhaps Tigers fans will have another good result this time.
