The opening line for the Mississippi State vs. LSU game came out Monday morning, and it raised more than a few eyebrows.

According to Vegas Insider, LSU is a 16-point favorite at home against Dan Mullen’s team. From a historical standpoint, this makes sense. Dating back to 2000, LSU has won 15 of the past 16 meetings — with the only loss coming in 2014.

The significant gap could be revealing when it comes to the health of LSU. Neither team has looked like world beaters throughout the first two weeks of the season. LSU continues to battle issues at the quarterback position, and Mississippi State lost (at home) to South Alabama in the opening weekend.

Ultimately, does Vegas know something about the health of LSU running back Leonard Fournette? He sat out last weekend’s came with an ankle injury. One would think he’d be ready to come back and participate against this tough SEC West foe.
