The LSU Tigers need to finish the year strong to make it to a good bowl game, and they’ll have the chance to do it with games against struggling Tennessee and Texas A&M squads.

As the Tigers prepare for the Vols this weekend, they’ll do so while looking back at a win over Ole Miss earlier this year.

That’s because DE Rashard Lawrence said on Tuesday that the Ole Miss offense is similar to Tennessee’s in a lot of ways. In the video below, shared by reporter Mike Gegenheimer on Twitter, Lawrence specifically says the Vols run a lot of screens like the Rebels did:

“I feel like it’s a spread team, kind of like Ole Miss,” he said. “They’re a big screen team and that’s something we struggled with a bit last week. We’ve got to be ready for screens, they’re going to drop back and throw the ball and try to establish the run.”

With the way the LSU defense has been playing in recent weeks, it’s probably a safe bet that it’ll perform well against a Tennessee team that just fired coach Butch Jones.

However, that doesn’t mean Lawrence and his teammates will be taking the Vols lightly at Neyland Stadium this weekend.
