Ed Orgeron’s worries about playing Louisiana Tech came to fruition, but LSU still pull out a victory Saturday night to remain undefeated.

“Give Louisiana Tech some credit, I thought they had an excellent plan, especially on offense,” the coach said after the game. “Their line protected well, their receivers made some plays, I thought their quarterback played fantastic.”

“We got up 24-0 or whatever it was, we could have put them away, but we didn’t.”

Orgeron said one difference in the game was LSU’s 218 rushing yards to Tech’s 87.

“Every time we gain that many yards, and hold somebody under 100, we have a chance to win,” he said.

It wasn’t always easy. In fact, Tech pulled within 24-21 with a 42-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

“We’re only plus-one in turnover margin, we had our first turnover of the year, it was a critical turnover,” Orgeron said. “… But we’re 4-0. We’re fired up about that.”

With five catches for 80 yards, Orgeron called wide receiver Dee Anderson, “the MVP of the night.”

“There’s a lot of things that happened, we’ve got to go back to the drawing board, because we’re going to play a lot better team that this, obviously,” he said. “I like the play of the offensive line, I like the scheme that we’re doing. Again, we have two backs that are pretty good backs.”

LSU scored the last two touchdowns of the game to avoid the upset, but not without a fight from Tech.

“I said it all week, they have some guys that will go to the NFL,” Orgeron said. “They’re going to give us some trouble, there were some times when they beat us … We didn’t come out in the second half ready to go. Just didn’t play good enough.”
