LSU has been on a roll in 2018, and are coming off of a 45-16 throttling of Ole Miss on Saturday.

This week, the No. 5 Tigers will take on a tougher opponent in the No. 22 Florida Gators on the road.

Coach Ed Orgeron joined the SEC Coaches Teleconference on Wednesday to preview the matchup, here’s what he said:

On how big the Florida game was for his team last season:

  • That Florida game was the difference for us, gave us some confidence. Beat Florida, beat Auburn; Guy missed the extra point.

Key to the 5-0 start?

  • The leadership of Joe Burrow, play of our SPT and defense, Cole Tracy on kickoffs, the leadership of our team has been outstanding.

What do you plan to accomplish over the next month?

  • Take it one game at a time, this Florida game will be tremendous challenge for us. Our focus is on Florida.

What will you focus on improving this month?

  • We have to take care of the ball; the team to wins the turnover battle will win. they are +9 we are +7.

On OL returning:

  • We are as healthy as we’ve been on the OL. The only one we are missing is Brumfield.

On Feleipe Franks’ improvement:

  • He’s throwing the ball well, he’s doing what Dan wants him to do. He’s limiting mistakes.

On the turnover ratio, what is the key for you?

  • Drills in practice, mindset on turnovers. We only had 8 turnovers last week, we were disappointed with the two turnovers last week.

On the maturity of the team this year, on LSU-Georgia not looking ahead to that one:

  • This is such a challenge for us, the focus is on Florida, going down to the Swamp, we know it will be hot. We will not look past this game, I promise you.

On if the Auburn win gives this team confidence:

  • It is similar, that is something we can rely on but doesn’t mean it will happen again… this will probably come down to the last play… we have to survive and thrive.

On Grantham/Mullen:

  • We have a lot of respect for Todd, this is the third time we’ve gone against him… Dan gave us programs on us, they scored 37 on us.

How similar is Florida from Mississippi State:

  • Very similar, very similar… you can see his imprint, John Hevesey’s imprint, Grantham’s imprint… Dan has done a good job with Feleipe, looks like the same team but different uniforms.

On Les Miles/Spurrier bet:

  • I didn’t hear about it but we love Les Miles, I love Spurrier one of the best of all time, I hope they have fun with it.
