Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald finished second in the SEC with 1,375 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2016, while RB Aeris Williams added 720 yards and four scores.

With both players returning for the 2017 season, Williams hopes to carry more of the load offensively this fall.

The rising junior told the Clarion-Ledger that he is expecting big things from himself when the 2017 campaign officially begins:

“It’s going to be hard to stop me this year,” Williams said after practice Tuesday night. “I promise you.”

The reason for Williams’ confidence? He said he’s added a lot of muscle since we last saw him on the field at the end of the 2016 season:

“I’m way bigger than what I was last year,” said Williams, who now weighs 222 pounds. “Last year I was like 212 pounds.”

If Williams can indeed back up his confidence on the field, the Mississippi State running game will be nearly unstoppable. Even against SEC West defenses, the Bulldogs will have a chance to run wild.
