The upcoming National Signing Day is quickly approaching with Mississippi State’s new coaching staff still searching for players to fill out the program’s 2020 recruiting class.

The Bulldogs didn’t have to look very far to find their latest target on the recruiting trail as Starkville High School standout Rufus Harvey has landed a scholarship offer to join Mike Leach’s Mississippi State program.

The 5-foot-10, 167-pound Harvey is currently committed to Arkansas State but is scheduled to visit Mississippi State this weekend, which is the final opportunity for prospects to visit college campuses before next week’s National Signing Day. 247Sports Composite Rankings list Harvey as a three-star star prospect and the No. 36 overall prospect from the state of Mississippi.

While Harvey may not possess the size some schools desire at the receiver position, Leach has made a career out of getting the most out of undersized receivers in the Air Raid offense and the Starkville native may just prove to be the next such player to thrive in the system.

Local Mississippi State fans have eagerly been waiting for Harvey to land a scholarship offer from the Bulldogs but it appears no one is happier for the Starkville native than former Ole Miss receiver and current Tennessee Titan, AJ Brown. While Mississippi State famously missed out on landing the Starkville native several years ago, Brown is willing to show the Bulldogs some love if they land Harvey.
