Chris Jans was asked about what it is like to have had his fair share of close SEC losses. This was all said at Tuesday’s media availability.

The last time that Mississippi State played Tennessee, the Bulldogs lost by a score of 87-53. That is one of the only double-digit losses in Jans’ first year at the helm. A pair of recent close SEC losses came from Auburn and Georgia in the Bulldogs last two games.

Jans revealed what his message to the team has been as of late.

“We were confident going into both of these games on the road. I told them before we left and reminded them a couple of times before we tipped that we expected to win this game, talking about the Georgia game on Wednesday and then the Auburn game (last Saturday). Our goal was to be 2-0 after this trip and we had a good couple of days of preparation for each particular game.”

Mississippi State will be hoping to avoid another blowout loss to the Volunteers. This time around, the game will be in Starkville.

Tipoff will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. on ESPN2. Can Jans lead Mississippi State to even up the season series with Tennessee?
