Former Texas A&M QB making a pit stop in Dallas
Former Texas A&M quarterback Jerrod Johnson has signed with the Dallas Cowboys ahead of their preseason finale on Thursday night, according to a report from Pro Football Talk.
Johnson, who was waived by the Baltimore Ravens last week, has spent offseason or practice squad time with the Eagles, Steelers, Seahawks and Bears since leaving Texas A&M in 2011.
Dallas starting quarterback Dak Prescott will be held from tonight’s scrimmage against the Texans, meaning backup Jameeill Showers — another former Aggie QB — will get the start. He is the only other healthy option on the roster.
Per the report, it is likely that this is a short stop for Johnson, who went 2-for-8 with 19 yards and an interception with the Ravens this preseason. He is expected to be released prior to the start of the regular season.
