They wouldn’t admit it publicly, but several coaches around the country are probably looking upon Dan Mullen with envy this evening.

Mullen did something no other coach in college football did: finish the Boston Marathon. He completed it in 4 hours, 28 minutes, 35 seconds.

Following the race, Mullen talked to the media about his experience, and he explained that there was no chance he wasn’t going to finish the race.

“It was just a matter of how painful it was going to be,” Mullen told the Boston Globe. “But there was no chance I wasn’t going to finish.”

Mullen obtained a waiver through one of the representatives from Adidas, and his run was for a great cause to raise money for the Mullen Family 36 Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to give children in Mississippi opportunities to succeed.

“I’ve been blessed in my life to live all kinds of dreams,” said Mullen after the race. “It’s our opportunity to give back to the kids of Mississippi and give them the opportunity to realize their dreams.”

Hopefully, Mississippi State’s training room will be open for the next several days, and nobody will blame Mullen for stealing a few ice baths recuperating from an impressive accomplishment.
