The SEC is immense in the way of familiarity.

High-profile recruits are often fought over by the powerhouses in the region. The building of relationships often last upwards of two years before the prospect eventually chooses a school.

Additionally, it isn’t uncommon to see some coaches (such as Lance Thompson) hop around from one SEC program to another with the hopes of finding the best fit (or the most money).

As for Karibi Dede, he’s a bit of a unicorn.

According to Auburn Undercover, the former AU LB will join Mississippi State’s staff as a defensive quality control assistant. Previous to this, he worked under new MSU DC Todd Grantham at Louisville in a similar capacity.

Dede played four years for Auburn — and was a big contributor as a junior and senior (during the ’04-’05 and ’05-’06 seasons). Though his playing career ended, Dede remained within the Auburn community. He was an assistant coach at Auburn High School for two years, and then joined Gene Chizik’s staff at AU as a graduate assistant for two more seasons.

With his knowledge of the region, expect MSU to fully utilize Dede’s relationships as they pertain to recruiting.
