The NFL supplemental draft for this offseason will feature at least one player as former Mississippi State defensive back Brandon Bryant has been approved entry in the NFL’s late draft selection. This news comes via Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

If you are unfamiliar with the supplemental draft, NFL teams have the opportunity to select players in Rounds 1 – 7 but forfeit that selection in the upcoming draft if used. So, for example, if a team decides to take a flyer on Bryant and select him in Round 5 of the supplemental draft, that team would lose its Round 5 draft pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

After a strong start to his college career in Starkville back in 2015, Bryant was seen as a potential rising SEC star. Unfortunately for Bryant, he never realized that potential for the Bulldogs and officially announced his departure from the program following Joe Moorhead’s first spring camp with Mississippi State. After weighing his options, he has come to the conclusion that the NFL supplemental draft is his best avenue.

The last player to be selected in the supplemental draft was Isaiah Battle back in 2015.
