Former Mississippi State S Brandon Bryant officially has an opportunity to make an NFL roster. Bryant signed with the New York Jets Wednesday after going undrafted in the supplemental draft.

Bryant left MSU in April due to a combination of academic issues and a January DUI arrest. He was a key contributor in the Bulldogs’ secondary the past three seasons, appearing in 37 games and recording 157 tackles along with five interceptions.

After weighing his options, Bryant elected to forego a senior season in college and instead enter the supplemental draft. He was not drafted, which may sound worse than it actually is. If a team selects a player in the supplemental draft, it gives up a pick in the main draft the following spring. For example, drafting a player in the third round of the supplemental draft would result in the team no longer having a third-round pick in the next spring draft.

In 2016 and 2017, no players were selected in the supplemental draft. This year, two of the five players available were taken.
