Greg McElroy explains why Florida game is a must-win for Mississippi State
The Mississippi State Bulldogs went up to Kentucky last weekend and got beaten 28-7, removing some of the shine from their big preseason expectations.
Now, they return home to host Florida in former coach Dan Mullen’s return to Starkville.
According to SEC Network analyst Greg McElroy, this is a must-win game for the Bulldogs. He said if they lose to the Gators, a 6-6 or 7-5 season is possible:
"If Mississippi State doesn't win this game vs. Florida you're staring a potential 7-5 , 6-6 at best 8-4 season right in the eyes and this was supposed to be your year" – @GregMcElroy pic.twitter.com/AnQEVdztS1

McElroy’s point is that the Bulldogs still have to play Alabama, LSU, Auburn and Texas A&M — a rough gauntlet of SEC West powers.
Coming into the season, the Bulldogs were predicted by many to beat a few of those teams, but a loss to Florida would put their potential dream season in serious jeopardy.
