Mississippi State landed commit number eight Tuesday from a familiar face — four-star in-state prospect Marcus Murphy. This good news for the MSU program comes on the heels of landing a commitment from linebacker Jett Johnson Monday night. Murphy, a native of West Point, Miss., was originally committed to Mississippi State but decommitted in early January as the college offers began to pile up for the Magnolia State native.

Here’s the statement Murphy released on Twitter Tuesday afternoon, announcing his decision to rejoin MSU’s 2018 class:

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Murphy is a four-star recruit, the state’s No. 2 overall prospect and the No. 10 athlete in the nation, according to 247Sports. He currently holds scholarship offers from Ole Miss, Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan, Stanford among many others.
