A Mississippi 2021 wide receiver has switched sides in the Egg Bowl rivalry. Hartfield Academy WR Brandon Buckhaulter announced that he has flipped his commitment from Ole Miss to Mississippi State.

Buckhaulter committed to Ole Miss roughly a year ago (Feb. 16, 2019) to the previous staff. After visiting the Lane Kiffin staff last weekend, he told Yancy Porter of 247Sports that he was “all in” with the Rebels:

“This is my first visit to Ole Miss since the new staff was hired. The visit was great. The new coaches told me about the offense they are going to run this season. It’s amazing. It’s passing. It’s going to be a lot more passing this year than they did last year. That’s big for me. I was a little worried about the direction the offense was headed in last season, being a receiver, but those doubts have been put to rest now. I’m all in with Ole Miss.”

He visited Mike Leach and company in Starkville this weekend and switched his pledge, announcing the news via social media:

Buckhaulter told Paul Jones of 247Sports that a recent Bulldogs early enrollee in the 2020 class boosted MSU’s appeal.

“After talking with my mom and my family when I got back, we had a long conversation about it,” Buckhaulter told Jones. “I just feel it is best for me to flip my commitment to Mississippi State so I can play with my cousin Malik Heath.”

Buckhaulter is listed at 6-3, 192 pounds and rated the No. 8 Mississippi recruit, No. 84 wide receiver and No. 496 prospect nationally in the class of 2021. He also had offers from Arkansas, Louisville and Southern Miss.

He is commitment No. 3 for MSU’s 2021 class. Check out his highlights below:
