Marquez Dortch spent one season at Mississippi State before heading into the transfer portal. Dortch announced his new team on Monday.

Dortch will play for Cal football in 2023. The Golden Bears are coached by Justin Wilcox.

Dortch was a former 4-star wideout from the 2022 class per the 247Sports Composite. 247Sports ranked Dortch as the No. 33 WR and No. 6 prospect from his home state of Mississippi in the 2022 class.

He played in one game for the Bulldogs this past season.

Ole Miss, Auburn, and Arkansas also sent Dortch offers as a recruit. Cal did not show interest in Dortch as a high schooler.

The college football world was rocked after news broke that Bulldogs HC Mike Leach passed away due to complications related to a heart condition back in December of 2022.

Despite the loss of its beloved head coach, Mississippi State won the ReliaQuest Bowl against Illinois on Jan. 2. The Bulldogs secured victory after scoring on a fumble recovery in the final seconds of the game.

Cal will be without QB Jack Plummer for 2023. Plummer opted for the transfer portal after spending one season with the Golden Bears.

There is no telling who will be throwing to Dortch next season.
