After three seasons at Mississippi State, Marcus Murphy’s time with the Bulldogs is coming to an end.

On Friday, Murphy announced on Twitter that he will be entering the 2021 NFL Draft. Last month, the junior defensive back opted out of the rest of the 2020 season after playing in six games. That means he’s suited up for Mississippi State for the final time.

Murphy had 34 tackles this year, including a season-high 10 in a win over Vanderbilt on Nov. 7, which ended up being his final game of his college career. Over his three seasons with the Bulldogs, he played in 23 games, compiling 67 tackles and two interceptions, both of which came during his sophomore year in 2019.

In his announcement, Murphy thanked his Mississippi State coaches and his mother in a heartfelt statement:

A 6-foot-1, 200-pound safety, Murphy flashed his potential throughout his time at Mississippi State with numerous standout performances. It will be interesting to see how much interest NFL teams have in him and when he could possibly be selected during the upcoming draft, set to be held April 29-May 1.
