Mississippi State added a late addition to its 2017 recruiting class by securing the commitment of athlete Powers Warren Tuesday. Warren becomes the 25th member of the Bulldogs latest signing class, 13 of which have already enrolled and participated in spring practice in Starkville.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Warren played tight end and running back in high school and could develop into an all-around threat for the Bulldogs from the tight end position, capable of going deep but also delivering blocks in the run game when necessary.

Warren announced the news of his commitment Tuesday via Twitter. Here’s his statement announcing his decision:

Warren does not currently have a ranking per 247Sports. His only other scholarship offer came from Bemidji State. Originally from Minnesota, Warren played for IMG Academy in Florida last season.

According to Steve Robertson of Mississippi State’s Scout affiliate Gene’s Page, Warren has yet to sign with MSU but intends to before summer session begins.

Check out his junior season highlight reel to get an idea of how head coach Dan Mullen could utilize the intriguing prospect in Starkville. If he can develop into an SEC caliber player down the road, Warren could prove to be one of Mississippi State’s latest unheralded gems found on the recruiting trail.
