Jamal Couch transferring from program
Mississippi State’s depth at wide receiver took a hit Thursday.

Junior Jamal Couch is seeking a transfer, according to a report from Genespage.com, 247’s Mississippi State site.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound receiver has 18 career catches for 304 and two scores to his name, but he hadn’t been factoring into the Bulldogs’ game plans so far under first-year coach Joe Moorhead. Couch didn’t play in Mississippi State’s first two games, during which 13 players caught at least one pass and eight recorded a rush.

SDS News: Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald identifies where he needs to improve

Nick Fitzgerald made his season debut in Mississippi State’s 31-10 win over Kansas State this past Saturday, but the senior quarterback wasn’t at his best.

Fitzgerald threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns, but he also threw an interception and completed only 11 of his 27 pass attempts.

What’s the biggest thing Fitzgerald needs to do to improve? According to him, he needs better accuracy.

“I think I was making the right decisions, just not putting the ball where it needed to be,” Fitzgerald told the media on Tuesday. “Learn from it, move on and keep working on it.”

SDS News: Suspension over for Mississippi State OL

Mississippi State hasn’t allowed a sack yet this season, and the Bulldogs are set to get a player back on the offensive line.

On the weekly SEC Coaches Teleconference, Mississippi State coach Joe Moorhead said OL Michael Story is back with the team following a two-game suspension related to an arrest on animal cruelty charges. Moorhead said Story did some things off the field, such as community service.
