Mississippi State appears to be losing some depth in its defensive secondary.

Eldric Griffin, a redshirt freshman out of Loganville, Georgia (Grayson), announced on social media that he is entering the transfer portal. Griffin thanked God, his family and the coaches at Mississippi State.

“But as I go through this process I think it’s best for me to enter the transfer portal with 4 years of eligibility left,” he wrote on social media.

Coming out of spring practice, Griffin was expected to be the third-string safety for the Bulldogs’ defense. He did not record any tackles, or other defensive stats last season. He appeared in 1 game.

In the recent spring game, Griffin prevented a two-point conversion with a tackle in the backfield. In the first scrimmage of this past spring, Griffin intercepted a pass.
