Mississippi State rising senior wide receiver Donald Gray hyperextended his right leg during practice this week and will miss the remainder of spring practice, per the Commercial Dispatch’s Ben Wait.

Gray (5-foot-10, 195 pounds), the No. 1 JUCO wideout from the 2015 class, finished last season — his first with the Bulldogs — with 21 receptions for 386 yards and two touchdowns.

Wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales recently went on record saying that with De’Runnya Wilson off to the NFL, “somebody in the receiver group has got to step up and provide that leadership role.” He also stated that Gray was “playing really, really good” during spring ball.

It’s uncertain the degree of the injury, but a mild knee hyperextension can heal in 2-4 weeks.
