Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald and the Bulldogs are moving on from Saturday’s disappointing performance.

Fitzgerald had his worst game of the season in the 31-3 blowout loss to Georgia over the weekend. He threw for just 83 yards without a touchdown and two interceptions as Georgia’s defense put in a dominant outing. UGA was also prepared for Fitzgerald’s rushing game and limited him to 47 yards on 10 carries.

It is a disappointing loss to move past after Fitzgerald and MSU had gotten off to a hot start this year, but their season is far from over. The Bulldogs still have a chance to put together a special season, and they will need to recover quickly as they get set to take on No. 13 Auburn on the road.

In a recent Q&A session with Paul Jones of 247 Sports, Fitzgerald was asked how he moves past a loss in the social media age. Fitzgerald admitted the loss was embarrassing, but the best thing to do is to block out the outside noise, review the game film, and move on to the next game quickly.

Here is the full question and Fitzgerald’s response:

Q: With the way social media is now, how do you deal with a loss when everyone thinks it is the end of the world?

Fitzgerald: Don’t get too much into social media, don’t really look into what people are saying outside this facility and it really doesn’t matter. In terms of a loss, it was a big loss and was embarrassing and we kinda got our butts kicked in every facet of the game. Coming into the locker room after that, you have to have a real short memory. Have a meeting about it, look over the film yesterday and come into today focused and ready for a new opponent and a new week to really get after it.

Saturday’s kickoff at Auburn is set for 6 pm EST on ESPN.
