NFL insider explains how teams are handling news of Montez Sweat's medical issue
After the NFL Combine, it was revealed that Mississippi State EDGE Montez Sweat had a pre-existing heart condition.
For a guy who worked his way into top-five pick status for the 2019 NFL Draft with a huge performance in Indianapolis, that was scary news and something that could have hurt his draft position.
However, on Tuesday, NFL insider Gil Brandt said teams aren’t very concerned by the condition. In fact, he reported that Sweat wouldn’t even have to come back for a re-check:
I talked to decision-makers for several NFL teams and all said they'd pass @HailStateFB pass rusher Montez Sweat on a physical. In fact, I've been told he won't even be called back to Indy for a medical re-check. Great news for one of the top defenders in this draft.

Sweat was one of the biggest highlights of the Combine, so it’s good to hear that this condition won’t hinder his upcoming NFL career.
It’s certainly something teams will want to monitor, but it sounds like he’s clear to compete in the NFL.
