Report: Former Mississippi State OL Gabe Jackson gets hefty extension from the Raiders
Former Mississippi State OL Gabe Jackson got some well-deserved job security on Thursday when the Oakland Raiders signed him to a big contract extension.
Though the exact details for Jackson’s extension aren’t clear yet, differing reports have it at either a four-year, $40 million deal or a five-year, $56 million contract:
This is expected to be a four-year extension worth $40 million, tying him to Raiders for next five seasons. https://t.co/nQjfHdxgYN

However much Jackson’s contract is worth, he deserves every penny of it. As ESPN’s Josina Anderson notes, the Raiders’ offensive line was outstanding last year:
#Raiders are smart to want to reward G Gabe Jackson. Their offensive line allowed 18 sacks last season–the fewest total in the league.

The Raiders went 12-4 during the 2016 regular season before losing to the Houston Texans in the AFC wild card playoff round.
The team has big plans for this season and beyond and now Jackson — a third-round pick in 2014– knows he’s a big part of those plans.
