Mississippi State has moved quickly since Dan Mullen’s departure on Sunday.

Mullen was announced as the new head coach of the Florida Gators after coaching the Bulldogs since 2009. He led the team to 69 wins during his time in Starkville and leaves the program in good condition moving forward.

The school wasted no time in targeting Penn State OC Joe Moorhead as the next head coach and officially announced his hiring on Wednesday.

Moorhead was introduced at a press conference Thursday, and it appears he has worked quickly in putting together the first pieces of his staff at MSU. According to one report, Moorhead will be bringing Charles Huff from Penn State as a co-OC.

According to Penn State, Huff has served as the special teams coordinator and RBs coach since 2014. Huff previously coached in the SEC in 2011 as a part of James Franklin’s staff at Vanderbilt.

It will be interesting to see how Moorhead’s staff at MSU begins to take shape. It should be noted that he indicated at his introductory press conference that he intends to run the Bulldogs offense.
