Joe Moorhead came to Mississippi State regarded as one of the top offensive coordinators in college football. At Penn State, he helped take the Nittany Lions offense to new heights.

What worked in the Big Ten isn’t working in the SEC. In fact, Mississippi State has the worst conference-play scoring offense in the FBS.

CFB Stats offers fans extensive options when it comes to comparing stats. One of those options is “Scoring Offense – Games vs. Conference Teams Only.” In four SEC games, Mississippi State is averaging only 9.8 points per game, which ranks No. 127 out of 127 in the country (the three FBS independents are not included).

Fans are calling for MSU to make a change at quarterback. Clearly something needs to be done to jumpstart the offense.
