If he hadn’t torn his ACL this offseason in the buildup to the 2019 NFL Draft, Mississippi State DL Jeffery Simmons may have been a top-10 overall pick.

Instead, his knee injury caused him to slide, but the Tennessee Titans still recognized his insane level of talent and made him the No. 19 overall pick in Round 1 on Thursday night in Nashville.

He might not be available to play during the 2019 season, but when he comes back from the ACL tear, the Titans are getting a heck of an athlete.

Simmons finished the 2018 season with an impressive 63 tackles (18 for a loss) and two sacks. He was a monster on the inside, freeing up space for fellow defensive lineman Montez Sweat to take down opposing quarterbacks.

Now, the former Mississippi State teammates are both off to the NFL, and we’re sure there’ll be a friendly competition to see who has the better NFL career.
