Two Mississippi State players have decided to end their careers due to injury.

According to Logan Lowery of The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, tight end Gus Walley and offensive lineman Jake Thomas are no longer with the Bulldogs.

Head coach Dan Mullen had indicated that Walley’s playing days were in question due to concussions.

Walley also missed the entire 2013 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He finished with 19 catches for 146 yards and a touchdown last season while appearing in eight games and starting in seven.

Walley recorded career-highs in receptions (7) and receiving yards (67) against LSU back on Sept. 12.

Thomas didn’t see much action at Mississippi State. After playing in two contests in 2014, injuries limited him as he didn’t participate in a game last season.
