Quickly earning the reputation as the SEC’s best evaluator and developer of quarterback talent, Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen looks to have unearthed his next star pupil in junior Nick Fitzgerald. The MSU quarterback finished last season as the conference’s No. 2 rusher and racked up 37 combined touchdowns in his first season as the starter in Starkville.

Of course, before Fitzgerald splashed on the scene, it was Dak Prescott tearing up the SEC. Now a member of the Cowboys, Prescott won NFL Rookie of the Year last season after helping lead Dallas to an NFC-best 13-3 record.

So what is Mullen’s secret? The MSU coach was asked that question by Arkansas radio host Bo Mattingly Wednesday at the SEC’s 2017 spring meetings. Here’s what he had to say:
