One of the main reasons Mississippi State stood toe-to-toe with Alabama until the last minute of the game was because of a punishing rushing attack.

The Bulldogs churned out 172 rushing yards on 49 carries and scored three rushing touchdowns, the first time an opponent has done that against an Alabama team coached by Nick Saban.

CBS Sports analyst Aaron Taylor broke down how the Mississippi State offensive line opened holes for that offense.

In this play, Taylor shows how the backside tackle blocked a linebacker after the defensive line was cleared out for Aeris Williams’ 11-yard touchdown, the first of two scores he had on the day.

“They keep this up, who knows, they could win the Joe Moore Award, which annually goes to the toughest, most physical offensive line unit in the country,” Taylor said.

Mississippi State ranks third in the SEC in rushing behind Alabama and Georgia at 250 yards per game.
