What Joe Moorhead said after Mississippi State's win over Louisiana in New Orleans
It wasn’t pretty, but Mississippi State leaves New Orleans. Former Alabama assistant Billy Napier had Louisiana ready to play and the Ragin Cajuns fought hard in the upset bid, but Joe Moorhead’s Bulldogs came away with a 38-28 win to kick off the 2019 campaign.
After the game, Moorhead spoke to the media and talked about his defense, Bulldogs RB Kylin Hill and the tough fight from Napier’s squad.
Here’s what Moorhead had to say, per Ben Portnoy of the Columbus Dispatch on Twitter:
Moorhead: “I asked the guys after the game to raise their hand if that was their first college game and a bunch raised their hands.”

Moorhead joked that some of what he told the special teams unit at halftime is not suitable for repetition. Nonetheless, they responded.

Moorhead on Kylin Hill: “I think he’s one of the premier backs in the conference and in the country.”

Moorhead on the defense: “I think we bent, we didn’t really break.”

Moorhead: “I think you’ve got to tip your hat to coach Napier. That’s a good football team.”
