After starting off the season relatively well, the Mississippi State Bulldogs have dropped their first two SEC games.

After getting upset by Kentucky on the road in Week 4, the Bulldogs were unable to take down Florida and their former coach Dan Mullen on Saturday.

Mississippi State was completely shut out in the second half, and Nick Fitzgerald failed to throw for 100 yards for the first time this season.

Some are starting to question Mississippi State’s offense and just how good Joe Moorhead can be in Starkville. The Bulldogs have a lot of talent on paper, but why haven’t we seen that translate into wins?

During an appearance on WJOX 94.5 on Monday morning, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum said that Mississippi State’s issues have to do with coaching, and that the Bulldogs are missing Mullen.

When asked if he thought Mullen would be undefeated if he was coaching at Mississippi State this season, Finebaum said, “I do, because I think Dan Mullen is a better coach than Joe Moorhead, and anyone who doubts me please re-watch Saturday night’s game. State had more talent and Dan Mullen found a way to win, which means he’s a better coach and out-coached the other guy.”

“Having been in Starkville Friday and Saturday, there was a great deal of concern about that game and what would happen if Joe Moorhead didn’t win the game. And here we are with a loss. It’s a devastating loss. There’s no way to sugar coat it. I don’t know if he’ll be a great success or not, but I do know one thing, he lost the biggest game on his schedule this year. It was personal. It was significant. And what he does now will be very interesting, because he has no more room for error. You have to beat Auburn. He has to beat other teams on that schedule that maybe he wasn’t supposed to, and please tell me how he’s going to do that.”
