The hits keep coming for Baylor in the aftermath of a serious scandal that has already cost head coach Art Briles his job. Top recruits are leaving the program and re-opening their recruitment as the Bears scramble to figure out their next steps both on and off the field.

Four-star RB Kameron Martin has requested a release from his letter of intent, according to an ESPN report, and is expected to consider a trio of new schools.

Among those with a chance to land the highly-rated back are the Missouri Tigers. Mizzou is anticipated to compete with Texas and TCU for Martin’s services if and when his release from Baylor is made official.

The Tigers could certainly use the backfield help. Last year’s leading rusher Ish Witter returns to the team a year after amassing only 518 yards on 126 carries.

Missouri landed Oklahoma graduate transfer Alex Ross this offseason, too, but more depth is never a bad thing when you’re trying to improve the nation’s eighth-worst rushing offense.

The offensive line needs a makeover as well, but stockpiling playmakers, especially freshmen like Martin who have four years of eligibility left, could help speed up the rebuilding process.
