Big Ten officials say late Purdue TD against Missouri should not have been overturned
Missouri may have gotten a favor from officials toward the end of its 40-37 win at Purdue last Saturday.
With 3:31 to play, it appeared that Boilermakers quarterback David Blough connected with receiver Jared Sparks on third-and-goal for a 9-yard touchdown.

The touchdown would have put the Tigers down 40-37 — or 41-37 with an extra point — late in the game, but officials overturned the play after a review. Purdue settled for a game-tying field goal, only for Missouri to drive nearly the length of the field and kick a game-winner of its own.
The call was controversial enough during the game, but now Big Ten officials have given Boilermakers fans even more to be upset about.
#Purdue head coach @JeffBrohm said today he’s received correspondence from @bigten officials that the Sparks review shouldn’t have been unturned by replay. Brohm confirmed he has been told the Sparks TD should’ve stood as called on the field.

Though Brohm likely feels vindicated by that ruling, it probably doesn’t ease the pain of losing a tight game at home.
As for Missouri fans, they’ll probably point to the fact that the Tigers got down to the Purdue 4-yard line with 46 seconds left and likely would have scored a game-winning touchdown anyway.
