Chad Bailey was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, the team captain was promptly suspended by Missouri later Sunday, as reported by the Associated Press. Bailey was reportedly pulled over for expired plates and a lane violation, later admitting that he was intoxicated to the officer after performing poorly on a field-sobriety test.

Bailey, who was booked early Sunday, was released after posting a $500 bond. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz released a statement on the matter later Sunday afternoon:

“We are aware of the situation involving Chad Bailey,” Drinkwitz said in a statement to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “He’s been suspended according to Department of Athletics policy. We have high expectations for all of our student-athletes, on and off the field, and we will follow all departmental and campus policies.”

Bailey totaled 57 tackles last season for the Tigers, adding 2.5 sacks and 3 pass deflections. He’s entering his 4th season in Columbia.
