Damarea Crockett turned in an impressive freshman season for the Missouri Tigers in 2016, running for 1,062 yards and 10 touchdowns despite missing the final game of the year due to suspension.

Therefore, expectations were sky high for Crockett entering 2017, but injuries hampered him all year and caused him to miss seven games. He only ran for 481 yards and two scores last fall as senior Ish Witter and freshman Larry Rountree III handled the bulk of the work.

This fall, though, Crockett is expecting to be fully healthy, and following spring practices, he said he understands that both he and Rountree will have big roles this spring, but he hopes to win the starting job (via STLToday.com):

“For sure,” Crockett said. “I’m looking at it like two people are always going to rotate. I’ve got to get myself right mentally and physically to reclaim (the top job). That’s basically how I’m looking at it.”

If Crockett and Rountree both live up to expectations, the Tigers should have one of the best rushing attacks in the SEC.

Crockett was able to return to the field during the spring, so he should be fully healthy this fall, which will be a big boost for the Mizzou offense.
