Former Missouri DE Charles Harris was Miami’s final draft pick to sign his contract Wednesday.

The Dolphins selected Harris with the No. 22 overall pick this spring, and they’re going to love him. And they were sold on him from the get-go, saying although they didn’t spend much time with him pre-draft, they knew his character and that’s what help sell them.

“Great character guy,” a high-level Dolphins employee following the NFL Draft (via Miami Herald). “Also a really good player. It made it easy on all of us.”

There wasn’t much concern about Harris when he skipped the Dolphins’ OTAs prior to signing his contract, but there should be a strong level of comfort now that the ink is dry.

Harris will be a key for the Dolphins’ defense that struggled last season, and he has an awesome story. Every so often you’ll come across a prospect who hasn’t played a lot of football but is still an awesome talent. That’s Charles Harris. In fact, Harris didn’t start playing football until late in his high school career.

He’s still raw and uber-talented. And it’ll be fun watching his game develop in the NFL.
