Drew Lock questions UT Martin's defensive strategy against Emanuel Hall
Even though Mizzou will likely take a slower approach to offense this season than it did in years past under OC Josh Heupel, the Tigers still will take plenty of deep shots.
In fact, in new OC Derek Dooley’s first game calling the plays, WR Emanuel Hall had only four catches, but they went for 171 yards and two touchdowns. He and QB Drew Lock have an obvious connection, and that will continue to factor into the offense as the year goes on.
On Tuesday, Lock met with the media and said he was surprised by the strategy UT Martin employed against Hall during Mizzou’s 51-14 romp on Saturday:
Drew Lock on WR Emanuel Hall continually getting open deep: "I’m not a defensive coordinator by any means but I’m definitely not going one (safety) high and pressing Emmanuel if I’m UT-Martin. But that’s what they did."

Indeed, it was odd to see the Skyhawks continue to get burned by Hall, who has proven to be one of the best deep threats in the nation.
As the Tigers head into tougher games, though, it’ll be up to Lock and Hall to show that they are in sync on the middle-depth routes, too.
