Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz wants to tamp down expectations after the Tigers’ victory Saturday over Central Michigan.

Although Mizzou had a solid performance against the Chippewas Saturday, he wants people to tap the brakes when it comes to comparing his program to the Kentucky Wildcats, the Tigers’ next opponent.

According to Power Mizzou, Drinkwitz said making a comparison between the 2 programs right now is a little bit early because Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops has been at Kentucky and recruiting for 10 years. He also said this weekend’s game will test to see how much Tigers have developed:

Stoops’ record in his 10 years at Kentucky is 50-50.

Drinkwitz record as the second-year head coach with the Tigers is just 6-5. However, the nation took notice when the Tigers knocked off LSU last season, marking Drinkwitz’s first major victory as head coach of the program.

Drinkwitz also took time to point out how good Kentucky’s offense looked against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday:

The Tigers can take another huge step forward this weekend if they can knock off the Wildcats again after beating them 20-10 last year.
