Eli Drinkwitz weighs in on Sarah Fuller's historic debut, Mizzou's dominance in 41-0 win over Vanderbilt
The Missouri Tigers rolled to a big win on Saturday in Columbia, trouncing a hapless Vanderbilt team 41-0.
The game was never in doubt, and the Tigers avenged a disappointing loss in Nashville last season.
After the game, coach Eli Drinkwitz weighed in on his team’s outstanding performance. He also shared his thoughts on a historic moment that took place during the game.
Here’s what he said during his postgame press conference:
On Vanderbilt K Sarah Fuller making history:
Eli Drinkwitz and Vanderbilt's Sarah Fuller shared a moment on the field before her history-making game.

On Mizzou’s punter not getting to play:
Drinkwitz: "Grant McKinniss is ticked off he didn't get to play today."
It's a good day when your punter doesn't punt— Dave Matter (@Dave_Matter) November 28, 2020
On Nick Bolton leading the defense:
Drinkwitz on his defense: "You have Nick Bolton anchoring that thing getting 10 tackles a game like it's nothing."

On QB Connor Bazelak not throwing for any TDs:
Drinkwitz on Connor Bazelak: If 30-37 for 318 yards is a pedestrian day, we'd take every time.

On using last year’s loss to Vanderbilt as motivation:

The Tigers take on rival Arkansas next weekend in the Battle Line Rivalry game. We’ll see if the Tigers can keep the wins coming.
“last year’s loss to Vanderbilt” was essentially the same teams, hmmmm I wonder what the difference could have been.
It couldn’t possibly involved Missouri’s head coach, could it?
You know what Mike, you might be on to something there, let’s give the mediots a few weeks or months to see if they can come up with a better answer.
Are we even sure that the W counts considering it was obvious this game was all about Sarah Fuller? Kudos to her but that telecast was an absolute insult to the football players esp seniors that may have played their last game.
“Are we even sure that the W counts ”
I’m assuming that Vandy had permission from the NCAA not just the SEC to pull this stunt but who really knows, this game may get thrown out as a forfeit and all the stats washed.
I’d feel really bad for ‘Tree Bolt etc, if they did get the stats from this game revoked over this garbage stunt being pulled for no real reason at all.
This Mizzou team today was the most prepared, organized, and confident team that I can remember in quite some time. Coach Drink is turning out to be a incredible hc.
Before the season began I thought Mizzou might win 2 or 3 games but he’s got them playing on a really high level. It’s amazing to think they have a strong chance at 6 wins.
The difference was they had a girl kicker. That swung it.
Plus, we didn’t have Odom lol
It doesn’t count. Your team played 1 girl. Not the other players. At least Drink has some class.
Exactly, why couldn’t have been about her AND the game itself? I have no ill will towards her and it was great to see, but there should have been some sort of balance in that telecast/story and there wasn’t. Many senior players may have played their last game, it would have been nice for both teams to have that talked about.
OH and I got the sarcasm, you obviously didn’t get mine.
Usmcdawg: ROLFL! Thank you for the belly laugh!
Bazelak was efficient but I’m wondering where the big passing plays are. Seems like the biggest passes have been to Badie on the swing routes. Not complaining, just wondering.
Odd how Brady Cook comes off the bench and drops a dime for a TD, but baz couldn’t get one in 3.5 quarters against Vandy?
Considering Baz’s hand is probably broke, we may overlook some of his plays and if you noticed, Drinkz seems to have tailored the game to shorter throws for almost the entirety. We probably won’t know until the end of the season but it’s very clear Baz is not throwing the ball at all like he is capable of.
I didn’t know he hurt his hand, but that would certainly explain things.
Now that you say that, it makes sense. His throws didn’t have a lot of “touch” on them. It also makes sense based on the way we finished the SC game last weekend.
Cook looked pretty impressive, it was the perfect chance to get him some snaps that included passing.
I agree. It’s such a waste when you bring in a young guy for mop up duty and never call a pass play. Odom did that alot and drove me crazy. Give the kid some learning opportunities.
TD, it sure sounds like you’re complaining.
How so?
The biggest win ever is SEC play with the most complete game by a Mizzou team in a lonnnnggggg time and you just have to break out the bottle of whine.
Never realized you were such a douchebag, nice to see your true colors.
There’s the pot calling the kettle black. Don’t you have a BLM rally to get to, or did the Taco Bell make you work second shift tonight?
Baz’s hand is hurt obviously. Brady did a great job, as did all our 2nd string but to be fair it was against Vandy’s 2nd string or beat up first string. Was really proud of Brady and the natural ease he ran that drive.
